Offshore Oil Drilling Review

Digging or offshore oil drillingl is done in one way or another for hundreds of years. The Chinese, for instance, invented a bamboo rig to oil and gas for lighting and cooking.

In Australia, almost 90 percent of our oil wealth is found offshore drilling jobs. The search is difficult, expensive and often fruitless - but crucial to the nation of the economic future.

Search for oil and gas "trap" - is known as - and the extraction of oil and gas is very difficult to land. But offshore, in deep and often stormy waters, it is a great company.

Possible pitfalls are identified by seismic investigation for analyzing the data, but if they are oil or gas will not be known until a drill bit penetrates the structure. To drill in a specific place - perhaps a few miles - require advanced computer technology. A navigation device installed on the drill bit feeds back information which enables the exact position of the property to be measured and monitored. A steerable drill pipe in the car can be remotely controlled to the direction of the drill.

In the early days of offshore drilling jobs, explorers simply a Derrick mounted on a barge and towed to their site. Today, four types of offshore drilling arguments used for the acquisition or exploration wells.

Submersible vehicles. These are very rare. Cream can be shallow water locations then ballasted to sit on the seabed.

Jackups. Normal towed to a place. So your feet are on the seabed and the hull is jacked-up clear of the sea. Water used in about 160 meters depth.

Drilling ship. These look like ordinary ships but have a high tower with a hole in the fuselage. Drill ships are anchored or positioned with computer-controlled propellers along the hull, which is the correct drift boats. Exercise is often used to "are" in the waters deeper wells.

Semi manufactured. Cellular structure, with some of their movement. Super structures supported by columns sitting on hulls or pontoons which are ballasted below the water surface. They provide stability in rough brilliant deep sea.
